About Me
"In the end, every man will be measured by his website bio" ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hi, I’m Mike. I’m a writer and comedian based out of Chicago.
Prior to disappointing my parents, I studied sustainability and worked for a green infrastructure startup, putting plants on top of skyscrapers. Green business was fun and all, but I was always more of an Andy Samberg than a Greta Thunberg.
I originally started my comedy career on the improv circuit (Second City, iO), but ultimately left the nerd cult behind for lonelier forms of expression.
In terms of style, my stand-up is quick, punchy, and metaphor-rich. I try to cram as much insight as I can into my jokes. When that doesn't work? It's sex, drugs, and rock & roll!
Loftier ideas tend to fit better on the page anyway. So I write essays and make videos, usually drawing from my expertise in the following areas:
Philosophy
Mythology
Pop Culture
Regular Life
Other things to know: I like quantum physics, Joseph Campbell, and occasionally spiking volleyballs.
